More than ever the police encounter subjects with mental illness.  Modern police service requires both advanced thinking and tactical awareness of those who are suffering with mental illness. Clinical psychology is a fair match for interdisciplinary teamwork both in the field and in the station.  This can be a daunting task when city and town budgets are growing smaller not larger leaving the blue line thinner than ever.
